Load the vest. Build the dog. A simple plan for the Bestia Dog Sport Weighted Harness: start light, add weights a little at a time and let your dog set the pace.
Never let your dog swim or go into water wearing the weighted harness. The extra weight makes it hard to stay afloat. Take the harness off before any water.
Each weight weighs 150 g (5.3 oz) and sits in its own pocket. The maximum load is the number of pockets your size has. Never go above it.
| Size | Lower neck | Chest | Weight pockets | Maximum load |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| M | 18.5–22.4 in (47–57 cm) | 22.4–26.4 in (57–67 cm) | 12 | 1.8 kg (4.0 lb) |
| L | 26.4–30.3 in (67–77 cm) | 28.3–34.3 in (72–87 cm) | 20 | 3.0 kg (6.6 lb) |
| XL | 29.5–34.3 in (75–87 cm) | 31.5–39.4 in (80–100 cm) | 24 | 3.6 kg (7.9 lb) |
Progress by pockets, not by guesswork. Load the weights in pairs, one on each side, so the vest stays balanced.
| Week | Weights in the vest | What to look for |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | None. Harness only. | Your dog moves freely and relaxed in the harness. |
| 2 | 2 weights (300 g / 10.6 oz) | Normal gait, normal recovery after the walk. |
| 3 and on | Add up to 2 weights per week | Only add more if last week's sessions felt easy. |
| Ceiling | M 12 · L 20 · XL 24 weights | The full vest. Never go above it. |
Three weighted sessions a week, with a rest day between them. Start with 10–15 minutes and build up slowly.
Rest, go back to a lighter load next time, and ask your vet if anything doesn't settle.
